Titanic

You used to make fun of me, saying I was heartless for not liking Titanic—for laughing at what most people consider the saddest part of the movie. But you never asked why. And I guess it wasn’t really laughter… more like a quiet snicker at the irony of it all.

The story is about a woman torn between two paths: loving the man her soul truly belongs to—difficult, uncertain, and anything but safe—or choosing the man who could give her an easy, stable life, but never make her feel complete. She chooses the one who fulfills her, the one who makes her feel alive. And yet, in the end, life takes him away anyway.

She goes on. She marries. She finds love again. But to me, she never loves the same way twice. A part of her dies with him. She loses a love she gave every piece of herself to—a love she believed would last forever. And despite her courage, her sacrifice, and her devotion to choosing true happiness, life decides for her that it simply isn’t meant to be.

So why do I laugh at the irony?

Because every time I’ve been Rose—every time I’ve given my whole heart—life has taken it from me and said, no… not for you.
